GRVL Girona

Gravel Camp Girona – 5 days of adventure in Catalonia

Week 21 - Thursday, May 21 to Monday, May 25, 2026

Girona is world-renowned for road cycling, but the area also hides some of Europe’s best gravel routes. Small gravel roads, forest tracks, and old connecting paths wind through the Les Gavarres mountains – a large natural reserve just outside Girona with an almost endless network of gravel roads.

This is also where parts of the legendary gravel event TRAKA take place, and many riders travel to Girona specifically to experience this terrain.

On our Gravel Camp in May, we explore some of the best routes in the area – at a pace where both the riding experience and the social atmosphere are at the centre.

Girona is home to TRAKA

Every year, thousands of riders gather in Girona for TRAKA, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious gravel events. Cyclists from all over the world come to the city to challenge themselves on long gravel routes through the Les Gavarres mountains, where a vast network of gravel roads and forest trails creates the perfect setting for gravel riding in Girona.

In just a few years, the event has helped put Girona on the global map for gravel cycling, and many riders visit the city specifically to experience the same routes and landscapes used in TRAKA.

These are exactly the areas we explore on our Gravel Camp in May, with Girona city serving as the base for some of the best gravel routes in Spain.

Why Gravel in Girona?

Girona is almost perfectly suited for gravel riding.

It’s important to distinguish between the city of Girona and the Girona region, which stretches from Costa Brava to the Pyrenees. When coming on a cycling camp, it’s the city of Girona that serves as the ideal base.

Within just a few kilometres from the city you’ll find a vast network of gravel roads and forest trails – especially in Les Gavarres, which begins right outside the city.

That’s why on our camps we stay in the old town of Girona, where everything is just a stone’s throw away and the gravel routes start almost right outside the door.

4-star hotel in the heart of Girona

We stay at a centrally located 4-star hotel in the heart of Girona’s enchanting old town – a city where historic charm meets a relaxed Mediterranean vibe and a world-class international cycling scene.

Wake up surrounded by cobblestone streets, lively squares, and quaint tapas bars. Girona’s warm, vibrant energy is exactly what has earned it the reputation as Europe’s ultimate cycling mecca.

After an exhilarating day on the mountain roads, unwind at a sun-drenched café, sip a cortado among fellow cycling enthusiasts, or take a leisurely stroll along the historic streets by the Onyar River. The perfect blend of serious cycling and Mediterranean lifestyle creates an experience you won’t forget.

Is this camp something for you?

This camp is designed for riders on gravel bikes who enjoy long days exploring varied terrain. There will be one group only, with a maximum of 10 participants, creating a relaxed and social atmosphere where everyone can ride together and enjoy the experience.

The pace will be adapted to the group. On the smoother gravel sections we typically ride together, while the pace naturally spreads out on the climbs. Riders are free to ride at their own tempo, and we regroup at the top or after technical sections before continuing together.

The focus of the camp is to explore some of the best gravel routes around Girona, enjoy the landscape and share great rides — not to turn the week into a race.
