With approximately 900 km and 20,000 metres of climbing spread across seven stages, Trans Pyrenees is a rewarding challenge for most cyclists. To get the most out of the experience, we recommend arriving with a solid fitness base and having trained specifically for longer days in the mountains. To ensure everyone enjoys the trip, we divide riders into groups based on ability level. Group allocation is based on FTP (watts per kilogram), allowing us to create groups with similar fitness levels and riding speeds. The Pyrenees offer very little flat terrain, making average speed difficult to compare with riding in flatter regions. For that reason, we use watts per kilogram (w/kg) as a guideline when choosing the most suitable group. Group 1Average stage speed: approximately 23–25 km/hRecommended level: 3.8+ w/kg FTPGroup 2Average stage speed: approximately 19–23 km/hRecommended level: 2.8–3.8 w/kg FTP Please note that FTP (20-minute power) refers to your maximum average effort over a 20-minute test when fully rested. It is not the power output you are expected to maintain throughout an entire day of riding.How to Calculate Your FTP (w/kg)You can estimate your FTP by riding as hard as possible for 20 minutes on a bike equipped with a power meter, or on a stationary bike that measures power output. Example:If you can average 240 watts for 20 minutes and weigh 80 kg, your FTP is approximately 3.0 w/kg. ‼️ Important: For the most accurate result, the test should be completed on fresh legs, ideally after a rest day. Throughout each stage, our support vehicle will be positioned at key points along the route, providing water, soft drinks, energy drinks, energy bars, snacks, and other ride nutrition.Depending on the length and difficulty of the stage, you can expect 2–3 feed stops each day.The support vehicle does not follow directly behind the groups. Instead, it is strategically positioned along the route and carries extra clothing and equipment should weather conditions change during the day.Participants are also welcome to leave a small bag in the vehicle with additional clothing, nutrition, or personal items they may need during the stage.Upon arrival at the hotel each day, a recovery lunch will be waiting for you, including sandwiches, snacks, soft drinks, and alcohol-free beer.Our goal is simple: you focus on riding and enjoying the experience — we'll take care of the rest.

Many participants choose to arrive one day before the official start of the trip.This gives you a more relaxed start to your Trans Pyrenees adventure and helps avoid any stress related to flight delays, transfers, or last-minute logistics.Many participants choose to spend an extra night in either San Sebastián or Saint-Jean-de-Luz, enjoying the unique Basque atmosphere, beautiful coastline, and the many cafés and restaurants before the trip begins.Arriving early also gives you the opportunity to go for an easy spin, make sure your bike is set up correctly, and get your legs moving before the challenge ahead.It's also a great chance to settle in, meet the other participants, and start the week feeling fresh and ready for the first stage across the Pyrenees.Please note that accommodation for the night before the trip is not included and must be booked separately.The hotel we use in Saint-Jean-de-Luz is: Le Grand Hôtel de la Poste

The trip starts in Saint-Jean-de-Luz on France's Atlantic coast. We recommend the following airports:Biarritz (BIQ) – approximately 15 minutes from Saint-Jean-de-LuzSan Sebastián (EAS) – approximately 30 minutes from Saint-Jean-de-LuzBilbao (BIO) – approximately 150 km and 2–3 hours from Saint-Jean-de-Luz Airport transfers to the start location are not included in the trip price. Once all participants have booked their flights, we will be happy to help coordinate shared transfers and taxi sharing where possible.Return TravelThe trip finishes in Lloret de Mar on Spain's Mediterranean coast. We recommend booking an afternoon or evening flight from Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN) on the final day of the trip.One shared airport transfer from the hotel to Barcelona Airport is included, departing around midday. Please note that airport transfers are only included if you use the scheduled group transfer. If you require transport at a different time, this will need to be arranged and paid for separately. Final transfer departure times will be confirmed once we have received all participants' flight details.

To ensure the best possible experience, the tour is limited to a maximum of 18 participants.
