Arrival day Friday

You can fly into Barcelona–El Prat Airport or the smaller Girona–Costa Brava Airport.
If you need help or have any questions about flights or transfers, don’t hesitate to send us an email or give us a call.

We recommend arriving early on Friday so you have time to test your bike and be fully ready for the Santa Vall race. We plan to take a short ride on the day of arrival so you can check your equipment and make sure everything is working properly.

Check-in for Santa Vall is between 3:30 PM and 7:30 PM.

The plan is to ride out together to pick up our start numbers. This is a 7 km ride from the center of Girona.
If you arrive later than 7:30 PM, we will of course find a solution.

Santa Vall

Santa Vall is a two-day gravel stage race:

Saturday: 120 km with approx. 1,600 meters of elevation gain (start at 09:00)

Sunday : 80 km with approx. 1,100 meters of elevation gain (start at 10:00)

The race is divided into Pro Men, Age Group (AG) and Open.
Pro Women start one hour before Pro Men on both days.

We help with all the practicalities surrounding the race and hold an information meeting on Friday evening , where we review the program, routes and important details.

The camp itself

The idea of extending the camp after the race is that you can relax and enjoy the cycling without stress. Once the race is over, you no longer have to think about recovery, competition or saving your energy – now it's just about cycling, experiencing and having fun.

Monday will be a rest day , where we recover and recharge, maybe a short and easy coffee ride.

The rest of the week we typically cycle 80–100 km of gravel per day on some of the best gravel the area has to offer. Some days the routes are flat with nice, fast “princess gravel”, other days the ride takes in both small and large mountains.

We will definitely also ride parts of the TRAKA routes . In addition, the camp is about fun, community and experiencing how crazy a cycling city Girona is - both on and off the bike. Lunch and the evenings offer a good atmosphere at specially selected restaurants.

Stay in the Historic Heart of Girona

With the hotel's central location, as soon as you step outside you're immersed in the charm of this medieval city with cobbled streets, colorful buildings and a city buzzing with cyclists. Rather than a generic, tourist-style hotel, we chose a place that reflects Girona's character, and also allows you to be walking distance to everything you might need.

What makes it even better: your guides Fie and Bekim have hand-picked the local cornerstones to visit, from coffees to bike-friendly cafes to hidden gems. You'll get to enjoy their insider recommendations, whether during the ride or winding down at the end of the day.

What is required to join?

There will be 2 groups. You can change groups during the week if you find that it is either too hard or too easy in the group you have chosen to ride in.
Group 1 20-22 km/h in the mountains corresponding to +3.5 watts/kg FTP. Approximately 550 km will be driven with approximately 6,500 hm.

Group 2 17-20 km/h in mountains corresponding to 2.5 - 3.5 watts/kg FTP. Approximately 500 km will be driven with approximately 5,500 hm

It is difficult to compare an average speed from Denmark with Spain because of the many meters of altitude and therefore we use the w/kg concept. To find your FTP w/kg you have to ride as hard as you can for 20 minutes on a bike that has a power meter, possibly a spinning bike. If you can ride 260w for 20 minutes and weigh 75 kg you divide 260 by 75 and your FTP w/kg is 3.5 w/kg

BICYCLE TRANSPORT + 23kg SUITCASE

Have your bike transported safely to Spain with PO Auto

For 185 euros (approx. 1400 DKK) round trip you can have your bike and a large suitcase transported by car to Girona. The car leaves Ballerup on Wedensday at 07:00 and picks up along the highway on Funen and down through southern Jutland. On the return journey the car will leave Spain Saturday and drive through Denmark on Sunday

Bicycle transport must be settled directly with PO Auto.
This service is only from Denmark

Your Flight

You will be flying to Barcelona airport.

Ryan Air, SAS, Vueling and Norwegian are airlines that fly directly to Barcelona from Copenhagen. Flight time approx. 3 hours. From Barcelona airport there are several options to get to Girona. There are trains from T2 (terminal 2) to Barcelona main train station, Barcelona Sants. From there you can take the fast train which takes 38 minutes or the "slow" one which has several stops along the way.

Otherwise, it is possible to take a taxi. Shortly before the start of the camp, we coordinate with the participants what is the optimal solution. We have a taxi company we work with and we can arrange for participants to share a taxi that has space for bicycle cases and is ready when you come out of the arrivals hall.

Bicycle rental in Girona

There are many options in Girona.

But we recommend Rocacorba Atelier which is located 20m from the hotel we use and Rocacorba Atelier gives a 10% discount to our guests. They offer excellent service, are always helpful, and being so close to your base makes renting simple. Rocacorba Atelier is a Canyon Experience Partner, so they only have Canyon bikes.
