Frequently asked questions about cycling trips in Spain
Bike Camp Spain's cycling trips in Spain are for committed cyclists who love long days on the road bike and dream of experiencing mountains, beautiful routes and pushing boundaries in good company. Our participants typically have experience with cycling and feel comfortable on trips of 3–5 hours or more.
Our cycling trips in Spain are designed for dedicated male and female road cyclists who enjoy long rides and the challenge of hilly or mountainous terrain. You don’t need to be an elite rider – the most important thing is that you enjoy spending several hours on the bike, are prepared physically, and want a great cycling experience.
Most trips recommend a minimum level of 2.5 W/kg (20-minute FTP), while some of our camps recommend at least 3.0 W/kg.
We offer three types of camps:
• Epic Tours:
Require a minimum of 3 W/kg and strong endurance, as these tours include long and demanding days on the bike.
• Camps (from 2.5 W/kg):
Designed for riders with a solid level of fitness who enjoy longer rides and climbing.
• Camps for all levels:
These rides are generally shorter and less demanding than the camps above.
If you’re unsure whether your level fits a specific trip, feel free to contact us. It’s always better to ask once too many than once too few. We’re happy to give you an honest assessment so you end up on the camp that suits you best. 🚴♂️
To ensure well-matched groups and the best possible experience for everyone, we have clear fitness requirements for participants.
We use the W/kg (watts per kilogram) metric because average speed is not a reliable way to compare effort in mountainous terrain. When climbing, body weight plays a crucial role in how demanding the rides are.
For most of our trips, a minimum level of 2.5 W/kg is required.
For selected and more demanding trips, the requirement is at least 3.0 W/kg, combined with good endurance and the ability to ride several hours a day over multiple consecutive days.
These requirements are important for safety, the riding experience, and maintaining strong group cohesion during the trips. 🚴♂️
If you’re unsure whether your level fits a particular camp, feel free to contact us. We’re happy to give you an honest assessment so you can choose the trip that suits you best.

The 2.5 W/kg requirement refers to a 20-minute FTP test. It does not mean that you need to sustain 2.5–3.0 W/kg throughout an entire ride. The level requirement is simply used to help create well-matched groups and ensure a good experience for everyone.
Each year we also offer a camp open to all levels, where the rides are generally shorter and less demanding than our usual trips. 🚴♂️
On our cycling trips in Spain, we typically ride 3–5 hours per day , and some days longer depending on the route, terrain and type of the camp.
